Join the City Architecture Forum for a special evening marking 35 years of debate, exchange and professional dialogue around the architecture and development of the City of London.
Since 1991, CAF has brought together architects, planners, developers, engineers and civic leaders to discuss the future of the City.
The evening begins with the latest in CAF’s Conversazione series:
Something in the City!
Michael Cassidy in conversation with Lee Mallett
Michael Cassidy CBE played a pivotal role in shaping the modern City of London during a period of extraordinary change and was the founding force behind the City Architecture Forum.
As Chairman of Planning and Policy at the Corporation of London from 1987 to 1997, he rewrote the planning rules enabling the City to respond to the post-Big Bang era. When the design of new buildings was challenged by the then Prince Charles, he established CAF in 1991 as a platform for debate around architecture, planning and the public realm. And he instigated the City’s Ring of Steel in response to the IRA’s Bishopsgate bomb of 1993.
In conversation with CAF committee member Lee Mallett, Michael will reflect on the forces that transformed the Square Mile, the origins of CAF, and how debates around growth, design and the City’s identity continue today.
Inaugural Summer Networking Party
Following the conversation, guests are invited to stay for CAF’s first Summer Party, with drinks, canapés and networking.
